Learning concept of the episode: Fractions - Division of a whole into equal pieces.
Story Summary
On the Tiny Planet of Stuff, Bing and Bong settle down for a picnic with a delectable fruitcake, slicing it into two equal pieces. As more and more unexpected guests arrive (three Flockers with two heads each and a giant hungry local) Bing and Bong must continually evaluate how to slice the cake so that everyone gets a piece.

Aim
To gain awareness and understanding of how fractions work
Resources
- A large apple pie
- Pieces of fruit
- Plastic knives
- Paper plates
Guidelines
- Sit the children in a small group, show them the apple pie.
- Ask them how they think it could be shared equally between them and then cut the pie into the appropriate equal pieces.
- Put the children into smaller groups at a table and give each a piece of fruit, paper plate and knife.
- Ask each child to cut the fruit into equal portions to ensure each child on their table has one piece.
- Share and eat the fruit (optional)

Health & Safety
Ensure knives are plastic and not too sharp, supervise at all times.
If eating the fruit or any food items ensure you have written consent from the parent.
Ensure no child suffers from a food allergy of any food item you are going to use.
