Odd Bing Out
Episode 27 Planet: Self
Learning concept of the episode: When a friend or loved one likes someone new, it doesn’t mean that the person likes/loves you any less. By forming a relationship with the third person yourself, all three of you can have fun together.
Story Summary
On the Tiny Planet of Self, Bong is approached by a small, friendly Local who wants to be friends. Bing encourages the relationship, until Bing begins to feel excluded from the fun and games. Bing then becomes jealous and turns away from Bong and the Local, who are playing by themselves. Bong and the Local try to include Bing in the fun, taking turns to jump over Bing’s head and making happy noises. Though reluctant at first, Bing accepts the invitation to join in the fun, and soon all three friends are playing together happily.

Working in threes
Aim
For the children to understand the importance of working together and not leaving people out
Resources
- Some group activities and games
- Small sporting equipment e.g. bean bags, hoops, balls etc.
Guidelines
- Discuss feelings with the children and focus on how you feel if you are left out.
- Put the children into threes; mix them up with children they don’t usually play with.
- Tell them to work together during the activities and remind them about not leaving people out.
- Whilst the activities are taking place, re-enforce the concept and praise them for working together well.
- Have some large group games using the sport equipment then split them again into threes for separate games.
